Nittonarton Cooks | Homemade Pepperoni Pizza

Let’s face it, everyday can be a pizza day! This homemade pepperoni pizza has everything you want—a great crust, gooey cheese, flavourful pepperoni and tons of olives. Who needs home delivery? Let’s cook! This recipe makes two pizzas.

The best pizza dough

This is a great basic recipe for pizza dough. If you don’t have fresh yeast, dry yeast works just fine. Just keep in mind that the water needs to be a bit warmer for it to activate.

Crumble the yeast into a bowl. Add water, oil and salt. Stir and make sure that the yeast dissolves completely. Add flour (keep some for kneading) and knead everything together for 10 to 15 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Cover the bowl and put the dough aside to rise for 30-45 min. Preheat the oven to about 225°C, or about  380°F.

Tomato sauce

Let’s make some tomato sauce while the dough is rising.

Gently simmer the onion in oil until it gets translucent, add the garlic and stir. Add the tomatoes, salt, sugar and the spices. Let everything simmer for about 5-10 minutes until most of the liquid is gone. Put aside and let it cool a bit.

Let's make some pizzas!

Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and divide into two pieces. Stretch the pizza dough into a large circle. This creates a better crust, but you can roll it out if you wish. Place parchment papers on two oven trays and transfer the pizza onto that. It’s time for the topping!

Start with adding the tomato sauce, divided between the two pizzas. Then add the grated cheese, pepperonis, olives and tomatoes. Ground some black pepper on top and add oregano. Put into hot oven and let bake for ca 10-15 minutes, until nice and golden (you can bake both at the same time if you have a convection oven) Sprinkle some fresh rocket salad on top and enjoy!
